Eric Heigis -  Volunteer Faculty at the Leadership Institute

Eric is the Legislative Director and Counsel for Representative Ted Budd of North Carolina. In this role he leads a team of three legislative staffers and is the primary policy advisor to the Congressman. He also provides legal advice and representation as it relates to the Congressman’s official duties. His policy portfolio includes issues related to transportation, judiciary, homeland security, budget, and entitlements. Prior to working for Rep. Budd, Eric served in staff positions for Representatives Mark Meadows and Dave Brat. He also completed five Capitol Hill internships during his undergraduate studies. In total, he has seven years of Capitol Hill experience with six Representatives, one Senator, and a House committee.

Eric received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center and received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from American University.
