Michael Connolly -  Volunteer Faculty at the Leadership Institute

Michael Connolly has been writing for national conservative leaders for more than 20 years, including Senators Mike Lee and Jim DeMint, Representatives Tom DeLay and Henry Hyde, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and dozens of private and political clients.

As Deputy Chief of Staff for Sen. Lee, Connolly spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives, including the Conservative Reform Agenda, the Article I Project, and the Joint Economic Committee’s ongoing Social Capital Project. He has coached and mentored young writers almost as long as he’s written professionally, including a mid-career stint teaching at a start-up boys school in Maryland, where he authored a writing textbook.

Connolly left Capitol Hill in 2021 to launch Inkling Communications, a boutique writing and coaching firm, and now teaches speechwriting at the Leadership Institute, the Conservative Partnership Institute, and the Heritage Foundation. An unapologetic D.C. native and sports fan, Connolly and his wife Elle live in Falls Church with their five kids.
