Through an introductory lecture, you’ll learn the essential elements of debate and study real-world examples of effective and ineffective techniques. Then, you will put your training into action by preparing and presenting a strong opening statement, defending it during Q&A, and closing with confidence.
This workshop arms you with the tools to communicate your position clearly, think on your feet, and handle the unexpected.
With hands-on practice and instructor feedback, you’ll leave prepared to craft persuasive arguments, stand your rhetorical ground, and win your next debate.

Prepare - Opening Statements
Attendees will split into groups and prepare opening statements (size of groups dependent on size of class)
Practice – Debate Exercise
Attendees will reconvene and deliver opening statements, practice debating with other attendees, field questions from the audience, and receive feedback from the instructor.
