Politico quotes Morton's 42nd Law of the Public Policy Process

In a Politico article they quote GOP strategist and Romney 2008 campaign veteran Terry Sullivan talking about one of LI's Laws of the Public Policy Process--"They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."Politico's Alex Isenstadt wrote, "Some presidential hopefuls — like former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty — have spent much of the last year lavishing praise on congressional candidates. Others are starting to ramp up their outreach: This week, House GOP Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) sent contributions totaling $105,000 to 70 candidates across the country — including a handful of contenders in the critical early states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.“There's an old Morton Blackwell saying: ‘They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care,'” longtime South Carolina-based GOP strategist and Romney 2008 campaign veteran Terry Sullivan said, referring to the prominent conservative activist. “Voters want to know that you care. Campaign School this Saturday in Radford, VA

The Leadership Institute will host a campaign school in Radford, Virginia this Saturday, September 18 at 8:30 a.m. for volunteers, community activists, elected or party officials, current or future candidates, and campaign managers training them to win a campaign.The campaign school helps activists to “be more effective and energized in the 2010 elections,” LI's Grassroots Activist Schools Coordinator Chris Doss said.Sessions are taught by experienced professionals, including Morton Blackwell, founder and president of the Leadership Institute. LI hosted a similar campaign school this past Saturday, September 11 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. LI Volunteer Faculty Member Wins Congressional Primary

Vicky Hartzler, Leadership Institute graduate and volunteer faculty member, won the Republican primary for Missouri's 4th Congressional District on Tuesday, August 3rd. She credits "the grassroots partnership of people across this district" for her win. Hartzler, former state representative from Harrisonville, MO, defeated eight opponents, and now faces current Congressman Ike Skelton in the November general election. Nearly thirty Floridians ranging from college students to retirees gathered at a beautiful Clubhouse lent to the Leadership Institute for a two-day Campaign School in Margate, Florida on July 10-11, 2010. LI Kicks off Grassroots Training in Colorado

Activists and candidates from across the Denver metro area came out in mass numbers to attend The Leadership Institute's Campaign and Activist training presented by the Colorado Faith and Freedom Coalition. U.S. Senate candidate Jane Norton and Colorado Gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes dropped by the training to offer their support for LI's programs and encourage the school's audience. Leadership Institute’s International Seminar Brings Together a Diverse Crowd of Conservative Activists

Conservatives from Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Romania, USA, and Mongolia, arrived in Washington, DC to learn how to effectively defeat the radical Left. Travelling from as far away as Mongolia, these students attended the Leadership Institute's International Seminar, a power-packed training which gives foreign conservatives an opportunity to learn from their American counterparts. Over the course of a week, students learn how to effectively utilize the internet, television techniques, and traditional grassroots networking to advance conservative candidates and causes. The speakers included Bruce Eberle, Stephen Clouse, Mike Rothfield, and other great leaders in the conservative world. For over thirty years the Leadership Institute has worked with conservative leaders around the world to help increase the number and effectiveness of activists dedicated to limited government and personal responsibility. The Leadership Institute recently brought it's Campaign School to Canada. LI Brings Training to Tea Party Summit in NC

As part of the Western North Carolina Tea Party Summit, the Leadership Institute trained 60 students at an Activist School on Friday, May 21, 2010. Over 100 activists, campaign volunteers and staff, candidates, and political aficionados came together for a day and a half of campaign training at the Summit in Wilmington, North Carolina. The event was co-sponsored by the Civitas Institute and Americans for Prosperity North Carolina.>

LI Holds Campaign Workshop

LI's Department of Political Training held a successful Campaign Workshop at the institute on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Students learned the “Dirty Dozen” social networking tools they can use to help their organization. They also learned public speaking skills and effective voter outreach tools. Former local candidates Aaron Ringel and Samantha Vanterpool Rucker trained at the workshop along with LI's own Director of Political Training, Christopher Malagisi, who presented new media tools and applications.>

LI Holds Two Classic Trainings

The Leadership Institute held its second Campaign Manager School of the year during the week of April 26-30, 2010. Fifty-nine students from around the United States, Japan, Nigeria, and Germany attended the training. LI's all-star lecturers taught students how to build coalitions, craft an effective message, and use technologies to get-out-the-vote in November. Additionally, over 40 students attended the corresponding Political Voter Mail Workshop on Tuesday evening, where they learned tips on creating and distributing effective political voter mail.>

LI Trains over 30 in Arlington

The Leadership Institute trained 33 conservative fundraisers on April 20-21, 2010 at the High-Dollar Fundraising School and the Event Planning Workshop. The students left with tips on all aspects of high-dollar fundraising, including one-on-one solicitation, grant writing, and planned giving. >

LI Holds Training in the United Kingdom

The Institute just completed a highly successful International School of Fundraising at Wellington College in the United Kingdom.On March 30 to April 3, 2010, 81 participants representing 23 countries shared an intensive time of give and take on fundraising issues. Topics ranged from Crafting a Successful Letter of Inquiry to Developing a Database of Donors, to Getting and Keeping Major Donors.Substantial time was devoted to systems, processes, methods, technology, and technical issues that are indispensable when managing a large list of donors, even if the organization is a start up.>

The National Rifle Association, the nation's premiere grassroots organization, is looking to hire campaign field staff to organize gun owners this election season.The ideal candidate will have previous campaign experience, with emphasis on voter registration, field work and grassroots organization.
