Robert's Rules of Order for Organizations and Small Boards Worskshop
Strong organizations do not happen by accident. They are built by leaders who know how to govern.
Robert’s Rules of Order for Organizations is a practical training for officers, board members, elected leaders, and organizational decision-makers who want to lead meetings with confidence, protect the rights of the assembly, and keep business moving. This course goes beyond basic meeting mechanics to show participants how procedure creates order, credibility, and effective decision-making. With increased emphasis on small boards and the real-world roles of elected officials, attendees will gain tools they can use immediately in civic groups, party organizations, nonprofit boards, commissions, councils, and other governing bodies.
In this class, attendees will learn how to:
- Lead meetings with greater confidence, clarity, and control
- Use Robert’s Rules to bring order to organizations, boards, and governing bodies
- Handle motions, amendments, debate, and voting more effectively
- Understand the special procedural realities of small boards
- Apply parliamentary procedure in ways especially relevant to elected officials
- Work within bylaws, standing rules, and special rules of order
- Recognize the duties and limits of the chair, secretary, and other officers
- Protect fairness, legitimacy, and the rights of the assembly
- Avoid common mistakes that waste time, create confusion, and undermine trust
