Avanelle Mitchell at Syracuse University

Avanelle Mitchell leads Live Action’s national Campus Outreach initiative, building and overseeing the organization’s growing student chapter network and mentoring young leaders advancing a culture of life on college campuses across the country.

A graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Cognitive Sciences, Avanelle combines an understanding of culture, persuasion, and human behavior with hands-on experience in grassroots organizing. During her time at UCI, she directed the community garden program, coordinated hundreds of volunteers, led workshops and public seminars, and taught courses on 

self-sufficiency and sustainable living.

Since first learning about abortion as a young teenager, Avanelle has been driven by a conviction that cultural change begins with courageous leadership. Her work focuses on equipping the next generation to articulate a compelling, compassionate defense of human life.
