🚢 What You’ll Learn at YLS at Sea

Set sail with distinguished faculty and 100 select student leaders from across the country 🌊 and learn what it takes to become an effective leader for the causes and candidates you care about.

The Leadership Institute’s Youth Leadership School (YLS) is going to sea for a 5-day sailing experience—bringing the “boot camp of politics” to an unforgettable setting. This immersive training is perfect for students who want hands-on leadership experience and real-world political skills they can use immediately.

📘 You’ll Learn How To:

  • Organize and mobilize volunteers and voters
  • Grow your organization and increase its impact
  • Motivate volunteers through exciting, results-driven projects
  • Host successful speaker events 🎤
  • Create eye-catching signs and campaign materials
  • Earn media attention for your efforts 📰
  • Plan and execute activism projects you can implement right away

✈️ Cruise Scholarships Available

Thanks to the generous support of Leadership Institute donors, a limited number of full cruise scholarships are available. To be considered, select “Scholarship Attendee” when applying for this training.

If accepted, scholarships cover:

  • Round-trip airfare to and from the port
  • Cruise fare and lodging 🚢
  • All meals during the sailing
  • Training materials

📝 Application Guidelines

To be eligible for YLS at Sea, applicants must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a valid U.S. passport that does not expire within the next 6 months
    • OR provide an original birth certificate with seal and a valid photo ID (also not expiring within 6 months)
  • Have a valid credit card for onboard purchases such as Wi-Fi and expenses not covered by the scholarship

If you do not meet the criteria above, your application will not be considered for this sailing—but you are encouraged to apply for a future Youth Leadership School!
