The Leadership Institute’s (LI) mission is to increase the number and effectiveness of conservative activists and leaders in the public policy process. The Institute identifies, recruits, trains, and places conservatives in government, politics, and the media.
ABOUT | 2026 High School Leaders Retreat
The High School Leaders Retreat is an annual program exclusively for current high school students around the country. The program derives from the classic 2-day Youth Leadership School, which teaches students how to win for candidates and causes of their choice.
The program will begin on Monday at 5:00pm (all students must arrive by this point) and ends on Wednesday night with a trip to the Congressional Baseball Game. Students will depart on Thursday morning.
LI staff will be present throughout the week and will serve as chaperones. Students will be under supervision throughout the training and during all excursions. For lodging, students will be roomed with one other student of the same biological gender during their stay.
Scholarships are available for first-time students and will cover flight, lodging, meals, materials and excursion costs.
Parents are welcome to attend at their own cost.
Guidelines for students who wish to apply:
- Must be 15-18 years old and a current high school student
- Must have a valid form of ID to travel
- Must have 1 letter of recommendation for the program or 2 references
- Must be comfortable traveling alone, and can arrive before 4pm on Monday and depart before 12pm on Thursday
