Derek McAllister
Dr. Derek McAllister is on the Faculty of Philosophy at Towson University, in Baltimore Maryland. He has a Ph.D. in Philosophy (Baylor University, 2020), two M.A.'s in Philosophy (U. of Arkansas, 2015; Talbot School of Theology, 2013), and a B.A. in Philosophy (U. Central Arkansas, 2010). He is previously a Templeton Foundation grant recipient (2019-2020) for cross-training in Psychology and Neuroscience, and his Ph.D. dissertation focused on the conceptual history of depression and mental illness. He has published peer-reviewed academic articles and chapters on Bioethics, Depression, Pedagogy, and Divine Hiddenness, among other topics.
With the experience of teaching at 9 different universities, he knows what it’s like to be a conservative on campus.
In recent years, he has focused on Ethics, Virtue, Meta-Ethics (Moral Relativism), and Atheism. His YouTube channel (@DrDerekMcAllister) has reached over 500k views in less than 1 year as he translates that academic rigor to the public square. Dr. McAllister has also served as a founding board member for the Mother Teresa Insitute in D.C., and his work has been covered by Catholic World Report, Catholic News Agency, Catholic Review, and others. He is originally from Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
