Jason Smart -  Former Guest Speaker at the Leadership Institute

Jason Smart is currently working with the Sen. Ted Cruz for President campaign in digital outreach and data analytics. Prior to the Cruz campaign, Smart worked for a dozen political races in the United States, starting at the age of 15. He has previously worked as a Field Director for Sen. John McCain’s 2008 Presidential bid and for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli of Virginia, before working for the International Republican Institute in Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Cambodia, where he advised at the local, Parliamentary, and Presidential level.

Smart also formerly worked as the Legislative Assistant to the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee of the Commonwealth of Virginia. During 2013, he advised the center-right party of Moldova, the Party of the Prime Minister, in their successful Parliamentary elections. Smart has his Bachelor of Arts in Government & International Politics and Russian Studies from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Tech, a Graduate Certificate in Security Studies from Virginia Tech and is completing a PhD in International Relations at Moldova State University, where his dissertation relates to character assassinations and attacks as tools in international politics.
