Woodrow Johnston -  Volunteer Faculty at the Leadership Institute

Woodrow Johnston is a Vice President at McShane Strategies, a Las Vegas, NV and Washington D.C. based political consulting firm. While Woodrow Johnston calls Las Vegas home (a city he claims is just as sinful as Washington D.C. but just more honest about it) he was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up watching the rapid decay of California from disastrous liberal policies.

Woodrow Johnston financed his higher education by selling products and services door-to-door and then going on to manage sales teams, an experience later found to be invaluable to his political career.

While in college he got involved with campus activism and quickly realized he had found his calling in the Public Policy Process. Political campaigns became his obsession, as he found himself traveling across the country working on various campaigns in different capacities. A political nerd by nature, Woodrow has read just about every book commercially available and every training he could attend on political technology (From LI, the RNC, and even from Democrats).

He has worked on campaigns across the country in just about every capacity. Some highlights include: In 2016 Woodrow was selected as a Youth Coordinator with the Conservative Leadership PAC, where he implemented his training on several underdog campaigns that vastly outperformed expectations. In 2017 he managed the defeat of a Democratic Incumbent in a D+8 City Council district while being outraised 2-1, where that councilman continues to serve today as the lone Republican. Later that year he managed the passing of two statewide ballot initiatives that would help ensure equal rights for victims of crime. In 2018 he managed an independent expenditure operation with a volunteer labor force that knocked over 400,000 doors and made over 750,000 phone calls, helping re-elect Wil Hurd, one of only three Republican Congressman to hold a Clinton-won district.

He joined McShane at the end of 2018, where he has since overseen the firm's strategic and fundraising clients. In 2020 the firm saw 54 electoral victories and helped grow the company 3.5x in revenue. Woodrow Johnston is the recipient of a Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants for "Best Use of A Meme".
