Glen Caroline -  Former Guest Speaker at the Leadership Institute

Glen Caroline serves as Director of the NRA-ILA Grassroots Programs & Campaign Field Operations Division, which is comprised of 17 staff members, stationed out of NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, VA, as well as in key regions throughout the country. He develops and implements NRA’s political and legislative grassroots programs, as well the Association’s campaign field operations, voter registration drives, and Get Out The Vote campaigns at the national, state, and local levels.

 

He is responsible for the recruitment, training, and mobilization of the Association’s 200+ FrontLines Activist Leaders (FALs) nationwide. Since the 2008 elections, Mr. Caroline hired, trained, and supervised more than 100 Campaign Field Representatives (CFRs), who coordinated and managed on-the-ground grassroots campaigns among gun owners for presidential, congressional, U.S. Senate, statewide, state legislative races, and ballot initiatives nationwide, including 23 CFRs in key battleground states in the historic 2016 elections. He has coordinated and conducted scores of legislative and campaign training workshops in dozens of states. Glen has also served as a Federal Liaison for the NRA, where he lobbied nine congressional delegations and coordinated NRA’s PAC activities for federal elections in those states.

 

Mr. Caroline has represented NRA in more than 575 speeches, debates and public forums before national and international audiences on the issues of gun control and grassroots mobilization, and is interviewed by various media outlets concerning NRA’s grassroots activities. He has been a lecturer at all 43 sessions of American University’s Public Affairs and Advocacy Institutes since 1993, where he has addressed more 1,300 students. His grassroots training is not just limited to the United States, as he has conducted multiple grassroots training workshops in Toronto, Canada to increase political activism among Canadian gun owners. He is a featured lecturer at a number of national political seminars, and in 1998, was named one of Campaigns and Elections magazine’s “Rising Stars of Politics”.

 

Glen is the editor of NRA’s weekly “Grassroots Alert” which is transmitted to more than 3.7 million subscribers every week. He also founded the NRA University program; an educational and activist program geared toward college students. To date, more than 150 NRA Universities have been conducted nationwide.

 

When it comes to grassroots activism, Glen practices what he preaches. As a volunteer himself, Glen served as the Chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee (LCRC) from 2008-2010. In recognition of his efforts in Virginia’s 2009 election cycle, Mr. Caroline was recognized as the state’s “Outstanding Unit Chair of the Year”. Under Glen’s leadership, the LCRC was also named the “Best Unit” in the 10th Congressional District that year.

 

Glen is also active in the Northern Virginia baseball community. A longtime coach for more than a decade, Glen currently serves as coach and Communications Director for Stars Showcase Baseball and is an assistant coach at Freedom High School in South Riding, VA. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Kyle’s Kamp, which has raised more than $1,200,000 for pediatric cancer research and care for Children's National since 2012.

 

Mr. Caroline holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a Certificate in International Relations from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is an Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association and is an NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor. He has been an employee of NRA since 1991.
