Dylan Nonaka was born and raised on a Coffee farm in South Kona and graduated from Konawaena High School in 1999.  Shortly after graduation he joined the United State Marine Corps and served as an Anti Tank Assaultman in the 3^rd Battalion 7^th Marine Regiment.   He deployed with his unit to Iraq in 2003 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Dylan’s unit was part of the first American forces to cross the Kuwait/Iraq border and to enter Baghdad later in the campaign. 

In 2004 he returned to the Big Island to attend UH Hilo.  While at the university he was elected to serve as student government Senator, Vice President and President.  He graduated with honors in 2007 double majoring in Political Science and Economics

In 2006 Dylan joined Governor Lingle’s staff as her East Hawai`i Liaison.  After serving in the Lingle Administration for three years, Dylan moved to Honolulu to serve as City Councilmember Charles Djou’s Chief of Staff.  In January of 2010 Dylan joined Charles Djou’s campaign for Congress as Campaign Manager. 

After Djou’s victory in May of 2010, Dylan joined the staff of the Hawaii Republican Party as Executive Director.  As Executive Director, Dylan oversaw and ran party operations for the 2010 election cycle.  2010 was the first time in 10 years that the Hawaii Republican Party had a net increase in the number of seats it held in the State Legislature. 

In 2011 Dylan left the Hawaii Republican Party to move his family back home to the Big Island and start his consulting firm, The Kahua Group.  Dylan now works with numerous campaigns from around the State of Hawaii.

Dylan served as Vice Chair of Hawaii’s 2011 Reapportionment Commission which redrew Hawaii Congressional and State Legislative district boundaries. 

Dylan continues to serve in the armed forces as an Army Reservist in the 871st Engineer Company. 

Dylan now resides in Kona on the island of Hawaii with his wife Monica who teaches 4th grade at Konawaena Elementary and his two sons DJ and Mason.
